No flies on these dogs...
In Spring and Summer and sometimes in warmer Autumns, blowflies are abound. Flies may become a bothersome parasite to your dog. Flies are laden with harmful bacteria and may also repeatedly bite your pet causing pain which may stimulate biting, scratching, licking or rubbing at the freshly inflicted wounds. If the skin is seen to be broken, raw, smelly, or discoloured, a Veterinarian should be consulted.
The skin damaged by the blowflies is then predisposed to harmful secondary bacterial infections. In some severe cases, the flies may lay eggs on the broken skin, further affecting the health of the dog.
